Alston & Bird has enhanced its Litigation & Trial Practice Group with the addition of partner Scott Schirick, resident in the New York office. Scott focuses on complex federal and state litigation, securities enforcement and regulatory investigations, and white-collar criminal defense matters.

“As we continue to grow our top-tier litigation capabilities, Scott brings incisive legal skills and impressive trial experience,” said Brett Jaffe, co-chair of Litigation at Alston & Bird. “His expertise will add further value to our white-collar, financial services, and commercial litigation teams as they work on our clients’ most important regulatory, litigation, and transactional matters.”

Scott represents companies and individuals in complex civil litigation and investigations by government and regulatory agencies. He advises clients in a range of industries, including financial services, securities, real estate, and fintech. He also advises companies in the blockchain space, including digital asset exchanges and trading platforms.

“This is an incredible opportunity to grow my business, securities, and financial services litigation practice at a preeminent firm with a celebrated litigation practice, and I can’t wait to join forces with my talented new colleagues,” said Scott.

Scott’s arrival follows significant recent additions to Alston & Bird’s New York office, including seasoned trial lawyers and commercial litigators Michael Hefter, Seth Cohen, and Ryan Philp and insurance litigation and regulation partner Mona Bhalla, a former New York State Department of Financial Services official.

“Scott is a formidable trial attorney whose experience builds on the momentum that our firm and its litigation offering continue to generate in New York,” said James Sullivan, partner-in-charge of Alston & Bird’s New York office. “We are thrilled to work with him in growing our presence on the East Coast and beyond.”
