As of 1 February 2020 Uģis Zeltiņš is appointed a Partner and Head of Competition Practice Group in COBALT Latvia office. His strong work ethics, outstanding knowledge and experience in competition and dispute resolution matters will strengthen COBALT’s position in the Baltic legal market and expand the capacity of COBALT to offer high quality advice to clients.

Uģis joined the firm in 2007 and ever since has been involved in numerous high–profile assignments and led several landmark cases in national and European courts, concerning abuse of dominant position, horizontal and vertical agreements, recovery of damages and patent disputes. Assignments with his participation include:

  • Representation of AKKA/LAA in an excessive pricing case regarding allegedly abusive public performance tariffs in stores, including representation before the EU Court of Justice and national courts.
  • Representation of Riga International Airport in a complex multi–proceedings dispute related to alleged abuse of dominant position.
  • Advice to Pfizer in complex IP litigations.
  • Counselling Hipotēku bankas nekustamā īpašuma aģentūra in its successful bid for Constitutional Court’s landmark order of interim measures.

He is recognized amongst top–ranked Competition and Dispute Resolution experts in Latvia by Chambers Europe and Legal 500.

Uģis is graduate of College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium and the University of Latvia. He teaches competition law at the University of Latvia.
