5 January 2023, Cairo, Egypt - Tarek Badawy, a member of the Egyptian Bar Association and a licensed Barrister and Solicitor of the Court of Appeal in Ontario, Canada, joins Meysan’s Cairo office as a new Dispute Resolution partner.
Tarek is a pre-eminent dispute resolution practitioner. He joins Meysan from the Cairo office of a leading Egyptian firm, where he has spent the last 9 years. He has over 20 years of experience managing large and complex litigation and arbitration in a wide range of areas.
Tarek is one of the most sought-after litigators in the region, he has extensive experience advising international corporate and banking clients on their local and global disputes, regulatory and internal investigations and follow-on regulatory enforcement action and litigation.
Tarek has a broad range of expertise in complex commercial disputes, fraud and asset recovery and multi-jurisdictional disputes, as well as property litigation, banking disputes and regulation.

Tarek Badawy specializes in litigation and international arbitration, he represents clients in trade & competition, commercial, media, and investment disputes before international tribunals and commissions, as well as Egyptian courts and administrative authorities. He was also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the American University in Cairo. He has published extensively on different areas of Egyptian and international law and appears as a guest lecturer on legal matters in Egypt and overseas. He also sits as an arbitrator, and regularly serves as an expert witness on Egyptian law before courts and international arbitral tribunals.
Tarek joins Meysan along with his team who worked together in Egypt for several years. The team includes senior associates Salma Abdelaziz and Ismail Lamie, also paralegal Shereen Botros.
