ACCRALAW Partner Everlene O. Lee recently participated as a panelist in a conference co-sponsored by Latham & Watkins LLP and the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (“FINEX”) on Philippine Investment Opportunities. The conference was held last 16 May 2024 at the Shangri-la at the Fort in Taguig City.
Ms. Lee was part of the panel that examined the potential role of private capital and other innovative financing structures in driving growth and innovation in the Philippine market. The panel discussed the challenges and risks that private offshore lenders face in the context of a Philippine financing transaction.
Ms. Lee focused her discussion on the issues offshore lenders face in creating security interest over assets in the Philippines, enforcement challenges, and the impact of the implementation of the Personal Property Security Act without the registry being in place.
Ms. Lee is a member of the Firm’s Corporate and Special Projects Department. She is highly regarded for her expertise in capital markets.
