Ramón Jara Contreras has been promoted to partner at Jara Del Favero Abogados and will lead the Dispute Resolution practice. His recent appointment makes him the fourth generation of the family to assume this position. Ramón has more than 10 years of experience advising on dispute resolution in civil, commercial, tax and environmental matters, as well as domestic and international arbitration and alternative dispute resolution. He has participated in cases under different laws and rules, such as ICC, UNCITRAL, CAM Santiago and ad-hoc. He also has experience in the management and resolution of contractual claims and advising domestic and foreign clients in the protection of foreign investments.
He holds a law degree from Universidad de Los Andes, an LL.M. in Comparative International Dispute Resolution from Queen Mary University of London and a Diploma in New Trends in Contracts and Damages from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
"I am very animated about this challenge, both professionally and personally. Professionally, with the conviction that we have all the legal knowledge and experience necessary to support and advise clients from various sectors in the different disputes they encounter. Personally, very proud and delighted to be able to continue a family tradition, being the fourth generation to become a partner in Jara Del Favero", said the new partner. The first was his great-grandfather Manuel Jara Cristi, who founded the firm in 1916, followed by his grandfather Ramón Jara Mujica and then his father Ramón Jara Araya.
During 2019-2020, he worked in the International Dispute Resolution Group (IDRG) of the international firm Debevoise & Plimpton in London, and in 2021, he founded -together with three other lawyers- the Chilean Chapter of the global association Energy Related Arbitration Practitioners (ENERAP). He is also a member of YAAF ICC, YIAG LCIA, Young ITA and Young ICCA.
His promotion as partner is part of JDF's strategic plan to strengthen internal leadership, give continuity to the development of its lawyers and reinforce the Dispute Resolution practice.
With the incorporation of Ramón Jara Contreras, JDF has a total of 9 partners, each one specialized in specific areas of practice.
