García & Bodán recently advised Grupo Constructora y Edificadora Gia+A (Grupo GIA) a Mexican conglomerate engaged in construction, infrastructure, real estate development and energy industries. Founded in 1996 as Grupo Ingeniería Arquitectura y Asociados, the company has divisions in architecture, interiors, urban construction, heavy construction, energy, concessions, and concessions operation; the company has been involved in numerous national and international projects including Chile, Colombia, Peru, Honduras, and Panama.
Grupo GIA through its subsidiary Desarrolladora y Operadora de Infraestructura de Honduras S.A. de C.V. (DOIH), was awarded by the Government of Honduras in February 2016 with the concession contract for the construction, financing, operation, and maintenance of the Governments Civic Center ("CCG"), the main government buildings in the Central District of the Republic of Honduras. The project was built under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) scheme and will house more than 40 institutions and agencies of the State of Honduras. This is one of the largest and most important infrastructure projects for the country in recent years.
García & Bodán Honduras advised Grupo GIA in the structuring of the refinance terms and documents of the Institutional and Commercial Syndicated Multi-currency Financing Agreement for up to One Hundred Eighty Four Million Dollars, entered into by Desarrolladora y Operadora de Infraestructura de Honduras, Constructora y Edificadora GIA + A, S.A. de C.V., Grupo Ingeniería Arquitectura y Asociados, S.A. de C.V. with a syndicate of local Banks and Pension Funds.
