International tax attorney Stewart Kasner has joined Holland & Knight’s Miami office as a partner in the firm’s nationally recognized Private Wealth Services Group. He was formerly a partner with Baker McKenzie and leader of its Miami tax practice group.
“Stewart has an outstanding reputation both locally and internationally as an international tax attorney and counts many ultra-high-net-worth Latin American, European, Canadian and other multinational families among his clients,” said Chris Boyett, co-leader of the firm’s Private Wealth Services Group.
“Stewart will also add considerable depth to our firm-wide tax practice, where we envision him assisting with some of our most complex international tax law matters,” added David Scott Sloan, co-leader of the firm’s Private Wealth Services Group.
Mr. Kasner advises foreign and domestic clients on U.S. federal income, gift and estate tax matters associated with their cross-border investments, including U.S. real estate investments and business activities, as well as U.S. pre-immigration tax planning. His practice also includes forming and overseeing complex international corporate and trust structures, as well as implementing international reorganizations. Mr. Kasner provides advice on offshore trust instruments, U.S. fiscal information reporting, voluntary disclosures and withholding tax compliance. He also advises on FATCA, CRS, as well as the development and purchase of offshore, private placement, U.S. tax compliant life insurance and annuity products.
Mr. Kasner is Board Certified in Tax Law by The Florida Bar and is recognized as a leading attorney in his practice by Legal 500, Best Lawyers in America and Chambers High Net Worth Guide.

Mr. Kasner earned an LL.M. degree in taxation from the University of Florida, a J.D. degree cum laude from St. Thomas University School of Law, and a Bachelor of Commerce degree from McGill University in Montreal, majoring in finance and international business.
