Affinitas, the leading alliance of independent law firms in Latin America, announces that Juan Mijares is stepping down as Chair after two and a half years of successful service. The partners of the member firms have voted Juan Luis Avendaño Cisneros, partner at Peruvian member firm Miranda & Amado, as chair of the Affinitas, effective as of 1 May 2018.
Affinitas would like to thank Mijares for his work and valuable contribution to the success of the alliance. We wish him well as he returns to his practice as counsel at Mexican member firm Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes. We also wish Avendaño the best of luck during his tenure as chair.
At a partner meeting in Mexico held this month, the chair-elect unveiled an ambitious growth strategy that will focus on the capability of the alliance to provide seamless and enhanced client service across the network.
Avendaño stated, “Affinitas is the backbone of the international strategy of its member firms. The alliance has become an integrated platform for cross border work, capable of handling the most complex and challenging work for global companies focusing on Latin America. It is an honor to take over as chair and I look forward to working with all partners across the alliance”.
Created in 2004, Affinitas is a joint effort of four leading independent law firms in the countries of the Pacific Alliance: Mexico (Mijares, Angoitia, Cortés y Fuentes), Colombia (Gómez-Pinzón), Peru (Miranda & Amado) and Chile (Barros & Errázuriz). Each firm is considered a true market leader in its respective jurisdiction. Affinitas offers clients seamless and integrated legal services delivered by outstanding independent firms that work as one.
