It is made up of the Alliance for Entrepreneurship and Innovation of Ecuador (AEI), United Nations Ecuador, with support of strategic allies including Paz Horowitz.
The main objective is to seek generation of employment opportunities, the strengthening of productive chains, improve the quality of life of the population, and obtain a sustainable impact through innovative ideas of high impact that allow attracting and generating 5 billion dollars and raise solutions to entrepreneurship and innovation.
On August 10, the first phase of “Reinvéntate Ecuador” ended, collecting a total of 786 proposals of which 556 are to attract 5 billion dollars, and 230 solutions to the challenges of the entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem.
Twenty economic sectors participated, among them: agriculture, food, commercial, construction, education, finance, export, industries. Whereas the cities with highest rate of applications were Quito, Guayaquil, Cuenca, Ambato, Riobamba, Santo Domingo de los Colorados, Loja, among others.
From 13 August, began the pre-selection phase and technical assessment of ideas propounded, and the week of August 17 started with a space to strengthen ideas with feedback and mentoring by experts on different topics, where Paz Horowitz intervenes coordinating the legal table with 6 lawyers with broad experience in different areas of law: Jorge Paz Durini and Byron Robayo (Partners); Lorena Sandoval, Verónica Mieles, María Elisa Holmes, Gabriela Cueva, and Mario Cedeño (Associates), who will select if finalists proposals have legal viability.
Finally, in the first week of September, the prioritized ideas for the co-creation phase that have the potential to boost the country’s economy will be presented. These ideas will start the stage of construction and co-creation of the Strategic Plan for Competitiveness for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in Ecuador (and building of a Great Citizen Pact for Development), with the participation of the media, public and private sectors, unions, candidates and political parties.
According to figures obtained from the web portal, 37 groups, 460 natural persons, and 55 legal entities participated in the 5 billion dollars proposals; while for innovation and entrepreneurship solutions, 23 groups, 180 natural persons, and 26 legal entities participated. This initiative has an active community in social networks of 73,500 users, round tables with the participation of 35 national and international speakers, and a reach to all the cities of Ecuador.
