On January 1st, Kathleen Chevalier, Ramandeep Grewal, J.R. Laffin from the Toronto office, Maxime Jacquin, Éric Lévesque, Aniko Pelland from the Montréal office and Kris Noonan from the Calgary office were invited to join the partnership. Kathleen Chevalier practises in the Employment & Labour Group. She advises clients on all aspects of the employment relationship in both unionized and non-unionized environments, and in litigation arising out of the employment relationship including wrongful dismissal litigation, grievance arbitration and matters before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. She has also assisted many employers with achieving compliance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, 2005, and is a regular contributor to Stikeman Elliott’s Employment and Pension Law blog.

Raman Grewal practises principally in corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions, having expertise in a wide range of matters including domestic and international offerings, corporate governance and securities regulatory compliance as well as capital markets developments. Raman has been internationally recognized as a leader in her field and as one of Profiles in Diversity Journal’s “2016 Women Worth Watching” Award, which recognizes dynamic professional women who use their talents and influences to change our workplaces and our communities.

J.R. Laffin practises M&A and securities law, including acting on various high profile public M&A transactions, both negotiated and unsolicited. Clients acknowledge his strategic and decisive advice as a major asset.

Maxime Jacquin’s practice focuses primarily on banking law with a strong focus on acquisition financing and infrastructure and energy project financing. He regularly represents both lenders and borrowers in complex domestic and cross-border financings. Maxime also has an expertise in mergers and acquisitions, PPP and debt offering.

Éric Lévesque’s practice include tax and legal advice on domestic and international mergers & acquisitions, cross-border structuring and financing, investment fund structuring and the taxation of financial instruments. Éric has expertise in cross-border tax matters and is a frequent speaker on this evolving topic. His creativeness, ability to simplify tax rules and solution oriented approach are very much appreciated by his clients and colleagues.

Aniko Pelland practises in corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions and securities law compliance. He has advised Canadian and foreign clients in acquisitions, business combinations, reorganizations, general commercial negotiations, public and private offerings of equity and debt as well as governance matters. He has worked across a wide range of industries, acting for private and public companies, private-equity funds, institutional investors and underwriters.

Kris Noonan’s practice focuses on employment and labour law, privacy law and human rights. Kris is a management-side lawyer that represents a diverse group of employers in both union and non-union work environments, with various human resources and labour relations issues. He also has extensive experience advising clients on employment and labour matters in the context of corporate transactions.
