The international law firm Taylor Wessing has advised Berlin Energie Rekom 3 on the financing of the acquisition of Vattenfall Wärme Berlin AG. The new state-owned company now bears the name BEW Berliner Energie und Wärme AG (BEW for short).


The financing in the billion euro range is provided by Investitionsbank Berlin and serves the acquisition of the new state-owned company BEW as well as the financing of further investments of BEW.

 

With a length of around 2,000 kilometers, Berlin's district heating network is the largest in Western Europe. As Berlin's largest district heating system, it supplies around a third of Berlin's households with heat. It is therefore an indispensable and fundamental part of the capital's public services.
