Thomson Geer acted for Sumitomo Forestry Australia Pty Ltd / PHSF Capital Pty Ltd on its acquisition of 51% of the shares in Metricon, Australia's largest home builder, for approx. A$115 million. Sumitomo has options to acquire the remaining 49% of Metricon after a number of years. Sumitomo Forestry is known for its global expertise in real estate and global wood-related industries.
As a result of the acquisition, the number of new housing starts by the Sumitomo Forestry Group in Australia will be more than 7,000 units per year, making Sumitomo Forestry Group the number one builder in Australia.
