Niederer Kraft Frey advised Transgourmet Switzerland AG on the acquisition of POMONA SUISSE AG.
Transgourmet Holding AG, a subsidiary of the Coop Group, is active in the cash & carry and wholesale supplies market in Germany, Poland, Romania, Spain, France, Austria and, via Transgourmet Switzerland AG, Switzerland. Transgourmet is the second biggest wholesaler in Europe.
The Coop Group operates in the retail as well as wholesale and production sectors. In the retail sector, Coop operates supermarkets and various specialist formats in Switzerland. In wholesale, the Coop Group operates through Transgourmet. With more than 94’000 employees, Coop generates net sales of approximately CHF 34.2 billion.
POMONA SUISSE AG is a wholesaler with a wide range of products for the gastronomy in German- and French-speaking Switzerland. POMONA SUISSE AG includes the companies DMFD SA (trading under the brands Dupasquier and MultiFood), Gastromer SA, MultiFood SA and E.J. Gmür AG.
With this acquisition, Transgourmet is strengthening its expertise in innovative product ranges as well as in sales and logistics.
