Watson Farley & Williams (“WFW”) has advised Denker & Wulf AG (“Denker & Wulf”) on its acquisition of wind farm developer Windenergie WEB Andresen (“WEB Andresen”).
The acquisition expands Denker & Wulf’s onshore wind portfolio into Germany’s North Friesland, taking control of planning and operational management services to WEB Andresen’s 30 community wind farms and five substations. Denker & Wulf CEO Torsten Levsen will join WEB Andresen’s management team as part of a new dual leadership arrangement.
WEB Andresen will continue to be headquartered in Breklum, North Friesland, where it was founded in 1991, building a foundation upon which the local population could invest in renewable energy. Denker & Wulf is one of Germany’s leading wind farm developers, having built over 800 onshore wind turbines in ten federal states across Germany, generating a total installed capacity of over 1400 MW of wind energy.
The multidisciplinary WFW Germany team that advised Denker & Wulf was led by WFW Germany Head and Corporate Partner Dr Marcus Bechtel, supported by Hamburg Managing Associate Tanja Mado and Associate Lars Hillman on corporate aspects. Hamburg Partner Verena Scheibe, assisted by Frankfurt Associate Manuel Rustler, advised on tax matters while Hamburg Partner Dr Christine Bader handled regulatory issues. Senior Associate Nora Fleischhauer (also Hamburg) advised on employment aspects of the transaction.
Marcus commented: “We’re delighted to have advised Denker & Wulf on this strategically important acquisition, helping them expand both their geographical reach across Germany and their position within the citizen energy market. Our involvement in this deal highlights WFW Germany’s well-rounded, expansive offering in the renewable energy sector”.
