About
Provided by Advokatfirmaet Hjort AS
We regularly advise many of Norway’s largest businesses on their legal disputes, and have litigated a number of precedent-setting cases in various fields.
Litigation and dispute resolution have always been a cornerstone of our business. We have been recognised as one of Norway’s leading litigation firms since our founding in 1893, and have been involved in numerous leading and precedent-setting cases over the years.
We represent companies and private individuals in hundreds of cases before the district courts, courts of appeal and Supreme Court every year. 15 of our lawyers are admitted to the Supreme Court of Norway.
We have a policy of ensuring that litigation is primarily undertaken by lawyers with specialist expertise in the relevant field of law. Therefore we do not refer cases to a general litigation department when legal proceedings are initiated. This ensures that our lawyers have both specialised legal and industry knowledge, as well as extensive litigation experience. We believe that this combination allows us to deliver the best possible service to our clients.
When handling complex and protracted legal proceedings, we put together larger, interdisciplinary teams. We deliver litigation services to all client groups, including commercial parties, public sector bodies and private individuals. Civil disputes continue to grow in complexity and scope. Our aim is not to make cases unnecessarily complicated, but rather to present them in a clear and convincing way.
