Baker McKenzie's IP Tech practice covers all aspects of IP protection and enforcement, copyright, IP licensing and transactions. The team is headed by Marcin Fijałkowski.
We are the largest full-time IP group on the Polish market among international law firms. We combine a global perspective with local knowledge. We work with our clients to understand their business environment and internal pressures, and in order to offer strategic IP solutions to serve their business.
The team advises in areas such as industrial property (trademark and patent prosecution, industrial designs and inventions), trademark and patent enforcement and litigation, copyrights and advertising, transactional IP matters and unfair competition. We offer sound knowledge in handling important IP portfolios of international firms in various industries, including pharmaceutical, tobacco and FMCG sectors. We annually handle around 150 IP litigation cases tried by Polish Patent Office, EUIPO, administrative courts, domain name arbitration courts, civil and criminal courts, and we are involved in dozens of pre-trial actions concerning the protection of IP rights.
We also prosecute, manage and advise on patent portfolios, licensing and strategy. We represent clients in front of the Polish Patent Office, European Patent Office and in patent offices in other jurisdictions via our cooperating agents. Clients trust us for opinions on patentability, validity, freedom to operate, and infringement risks.
Chambers Review
Baker McKenzie has a market-leading team advising on a broad array of IP issues. Its lawyers are skilled in contentious cases involving trade mark and patent prosecution as well as litigation, including before the EU authorities. Additionally, the firm assists with alleged unfair competition cases, and is similarly able to advise on copyright matters, design agreements and other non-contentious IP issues. The practice enjoys a broad client base, drawn from the TMT, life sciences and FMCG industries. Baker McKenzie is also well placed to handle trade mark portfolio management and is often instructed on cases covering several jurisdictions.
