The Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution Practice Group is led by Mrs. Abimbola Akeredolu, SAN (equivalent of Queen’s Counsel), FCIArb. and supported by a team of Litigation, Arbitration and Alternative Dispute Resolution experts.
We undertake litigation, especially commercial litigation, arbitration as well as alternative dispute resolution (ADR) procedure on behalf of our clients. We have represented clients in complex commercial and cross border litigation; domestic and international arbitration matters involving energy disputes, construction contracts, shipping, international trade, and telecommunication contracts under major international arbitration rules. We are routinely called upon to render litigation, tax and regulatory advisory services in transactions undertaken by other practice groups in the firm as well. Thus, we have helped to extend and clarify the frontiers of corporate and commercial law practice in Nigeria, especially through litigation.
We also have considerable experience in family law and have recently handled notable family law instructions from clients within and outside Nigeria.
Recently, the team was instructed by Savannah Energy Plc (a British independent energy company) and Seven Energy International (a private-equity and institutional investor backed company) in connection with a litigation instituted by a minority shareholder following Savannah’s acquisition of Seven Energy’s Nigerian oil and gas asset.
