Chandler MHM has a long‐standing, highly recognized Energy and Natural Resources legal team, drawing on the coordinated strengths of experienced lawyers from the firm’s Banking and Project Financing, and Mergers and Acquisitions practices. The team acts for project owners, sponsors and lenders on a wide range of transactions, both in Thailand and across Southeast Asia, with a focus on Lao PDR, Malaysia, Myanmar and Vietnam. Lawyers advise on new and continuing projects, with work including; company registration, acquisition of land and rights of way, contracting with developers and other contractors, suppliers, licensees, obtaining permits, licenses, and government approvals, negotiating financing terms, and advising on Board of Investment (“BOI”) incentive schemes.

Chandler MHM boasts a long-established team advising Thai and international clients, including market-leading lenders, sponsors and project companies, on oil and gas, infrastructure and renewable energy projects. Areas of focus for the team in the renewables sector include solar, wind and hydropower. As well as advising on Thailand-based projects, the team handles matters in Vietnam and Laos. The department is able to provide regional expertise through the firm's association with the Japanese law firm Mori Hamada & Matsumoto. The team has US and Thai-qualified lawyers.
Work Highlights
- Chandler MHM represented a group of lenders, including the Commercial Bank of China (Thai) and Krung Thai Bank, in financing the development of a 770 MW run-off-river hydroelectric power plant in the Pak Lay District, Lao PDR.
