Marine
Now the largest shipping practice in the world, Clyde & Co has over 170 specialist marine lawyers based in trading hubs around the globe, on call and serving clients’ requirements in all time-zones at any time of day.
We act for the heart of the maritime industry – shipbuilders, owners, charterers, salvors, financiers, port authorities and government, P&I clubs and insurers – and clients across the broader trade commodities and energy sector.
Shipping and Yacht Finance
The team's work spans the full range of transactional shipping matters and on occasion includes contentious work, generally at the pre-action stage. Ship and superyacht sale and purchase, shipbuilding and superyacht building contracts, and financing transactions form the department's bread and butter work, but bareboat charters, vessel and crew management contracts, intellectual property and corporate matters also arrive on our desks regularly.
Our client base is similarly diverse, encompassing all sectors of the shipping industry in its broadest sense – from assisting shipowners in their purchase of a bulk carrier, to negotiating a build contract for cruise ships on behalf of a shipyard, to a complex LNG joint venture or a superyacht-related tax investigation.
The team is based in London but, thanks to the international nature of our client base, we work closely with many of our overseas offices – particularly Miami, Dubai, Hong Kong and Singapore.
