About

Provided by Dentons

The European energy sector is fast-moving, capital intensive, strictly regulated and highly competitive. Market players face not only commercial challenges, but also environmental and climate change implications. Our Energy team in Europe provides comprehensive strategic advice to help our clients achieve their business goals in this dynamic and complex market. We provide real time know-how and updates on all developments in the sector through a wide range of services.

Oil majors, independents, transportation companies, power generators, utilities, gas and power distribution and transmission system operators, financial institutions and other players rely on our European Energy team to provide legal advice on transactions, project development and finance, regulatory and environmental law and dispute resolution. Our team across Europe advises governments on energy-market reform and major project procurement.

We have advised on a number of landmark transactions and project developments in Europe. Most recently, we advised Tion Renewables on a long-term PPA with Saint-Gobain in Poland; Qualitas Energy on a partnership with Surplus Equity Partners to build a 200 MW wind farm portfolio in seven locations in Germany; and BayernLB and Danish Export Credit Agency EKF on the €1 billion financing for two RWE offshore wind farms in the North Sea, one in German (Kaskasi) and one in UK waters (Sofia).
