  • Quinn Emanuel represented Dr Chang-jae Shin, the chairman of Kyobo Life Insurance, after four private equity firms led by Affinity Equity Partners pursued an ICC arbitration against the client for approximately USD2 billion. In 2021, the tribunal handed down an award that rejected the claimants’ claims and vindicated Dr Shin. The claimants then commenced a second ICC arbitration against Dr Shin in 2022, and in 2024 an evidentiary hearing was held in London.
