Our Transport and Regulatory Department has a number of key strands of work including:
• Public Inquiry work;
We do a substantial number of public inquiries both in the road haulage sector and the bus and coach sector, including both large and smaller operators. We work nationwide and increasingly undertake appeals on the behalf of operators.
• Magistrates and Crown Court defence
We conduct many Magistrates Courts' hearings including all aspects of defence in criminal litigation from first hearings to legal arguments and trials. Andrew Banks and Peter Woodhouse, both Partners at Stone King, have higher rights of audience, one in both jurisdictions. Andrew in particular acts as advocate in the Crown Court where he prepares cases and conducts all types of hearings including jury trials.
• Employment advice into the transport sector
Peter Woodhouse has a particular interest in employment law in the transport sector and has advised on that for many years. Stone King has a team of HR practitioners who work alongside lawyers so minimising any disruption when matters pass from HR to legal.
In addition, Stone King advises on commercial issues such as procurement, business property transactions and contracts.
