The tax department is known for:

·        Advising on the tax aspects of corporate acquisitions, disposals and investments and tax efficient corporate restructurings including demergers and capital reductions;

·        Advising OMBs on the design and implementation of employee incentives, with a particular expertise in relation to EMI schemes; and

·        Providing legal tax advice and support to a wide range of other professional advisers (firms of solicitors, accountants and financial advisers).

The tax department has a particular expertise in, and has worked on a significant number of, group reorganisations and demergers.

The tax department also has extensive experience in designing and implementing employee incentive arrangements and asset protection structures, including family investment companies, areas in which the tax team - working alongside the corporate and private client teams - are able to provide integrated solutions.

Recent work highlights include advising the shareholders on the sale of Edge Picture Co, a world leading film production company whose clients include Amazon, BT Group and FIFA, to Zinc Media Group PLC and acting for LDC on its investment into Cleveland Containers Limited (CCL), the UK’s leading supplier of shipping containers.
