Our Insurance Department has been active in the local Irish and cross-border market for over 30 years since the establishment of Ireland as an international financial service centre.
The team was involved in the very first Irish captive insurance projects three decades ago. More recently, it continues to pioneer in the area, acting in ground-breaking transactions such as many of the first domestic and cross-border mergers of insurance and reinsurance platforms, both within Ireland and into other European jurisdictions as well as insurance-linked securitisation deals.
The firm couples its cross-border offering with as strong domestic base – e.g. acting for players in the local market such as Irish Life, New Ireland, AIG, RSA Insurance and AXA.
The Insurance department has an enviable client list – e.g. this year we acted for the Law Society of Ireland in the arrangement it has entered with Randall & Quilter on the run-off of its Solicitors Mutual Defence Fund obligations; for AA plc in the sale of its Irish operation, AA Ireland; and for Beazley in its on-going Irish insurance authorisation project (partly Brexit-related).
We are acting on Brexit new authorisation, contingency and restructuring projects for a number of clients.
The breadth of our offering is such at that we act for 5 of the top 10 global reinsurers.
