Recent Transactional Highlights:
■ Acted as Dominican Republic Counsel to Orion Mineral Royalty Fund in their joint investment with Anglo Pacific Group through the making of loans and purchase of royalty interests in an aggregate amount equal to US$140 million in a calcium carbonate mine located in the Dominican Republic.
■ Assisted a variety of clients in successfully closing an excess of US$100 million of luxury tourism real estate transactions with creative structuring amidst severe travel and lockdown restrictions.
■ Acted as external local counsel to Scotiabank in a variety of refinancing activities, which in aggregate exceed US$150 million, as part of said financial institution’s continued support to its tourism and retail sector clients throughout the COVID pandemic.
■ Buyer counsel in the acquisition of the largest landscaping and general maintenance operation in the Dominican Republic as it was being spun-off from a large multinational interest to a group of private investors, which closing took place among severe lockdown restrictions in March and April 2020.
■ Represented Scotiabank in the financing of a green field 50MW solar power generating facility which loan was granted in accordance with the Green Loan Principles as published by the Loan Market Association and Loan Syndications and Trading Association and which was the first transaction of its kind in the Dominican Republic.
■ Special counsel to one of the largest fund managers in the Dominican Republic in the granting of loans excess of US$100 million to several solar and wind-generating power projects in the country.
■ Advised one of the largest conglomerates in the Dominican Republic in the acquisition and consolidation of several bread manufacturing facilities in the Dominican Republic.
■ Counsel to the largest retail conglomerates in the Dominican Republic in the acquisition of two supermarket facilities from a local competitor.
