Founded in 1984, Ernesto Tzirulnik Advocacia (ETAD) is internationally recognized as one of the most important law firms specializing in insurance and reinsurance. ETAD advises clients on loss adjustment procedures, legal and regulatory issues; it sponsors complex insurance, reinsurance and brokerage lawsuits; and operates in contractual law cases, civil liability, and corporate conflicts. ETAD has participated in almost all relevant insurance, reinsurance and civil liability cases in Brazil, including, among several others, representing the insured’s interest in the largest indemnification ever paid regarding an inland accident in Brazil (over US$500m), and the restructure of a life insurance policy in Brazil from legal and actuarial perspectives, bringing back to balance more than 800,000 insurance contracts. ETAD represented Companhia Siderúrgica Nacional (CSN) versus IRB-Brasil Re in the first lawsuit of its kind in Brazil, which succeeded in compelling IRB to participate in the renewal of CSN’s all risks insurance policy. ETAD nowadays is involved in practically all relevant cases involving infrastructure, business interruption, engineering and operational risks, performance, liability and D&O.

Corporate: 

In addition to its work in insurance law, ETAD also represents its clients in important corporate law issues.

International Work: 

ETAD has also been involved in the largest insurance claims in other Latin American countries, such as Argentina, Bolivia, Ecuador, Dominican Republic, Paraguay, Peru and Venezuela, as well as critical situations in which the insurance contract becomes a pinpoint issue between contractors and local governments, due to the magnitude of the interests involved.
