THE FIRM:

Fenchurch Law is an award winning international law firm dedicated exclusively to protecting the interests of policyholders. The firm’s lawyers provide the highest quality insurance advice and represent policyholders with complex and high value coverage disputes with their insurers.

Unlike other firms of specialist insurance solicitors, Fenchurch Law only ever act for policyholders, never insurers, and are determined to level the playing field between the two. The firm works closely with insurance brokers, combining its legal skills with commercial leverage, to achieve the best possible outcomes for clients.

Each member of the team is dedicated to solving complex problems simply and efficiently, ensuring the most successful outcomes for clients. The insurance industry is highly sophisticated, and the firm is uniquely placed to navigate the complexities, with its extensive experience acting for policyholders complemented by invaluable insight gained in prior roles as brokers, claims adjusters and insurer-side lawyers.

Fenchurch Law’s clients include global multinationals and businesses of all sizes and across all sectors, and high net worth individuals.

PRINCIPAL AREAS OF WORK

Construction & Property Risks

Fenchurch Law understand the inherent complexity of construction projects, the variety of risks involved, and the role played by insurance in the allocation and management of risk exposures. The firm also understands the risks facing property owners and that property damage frequently leads to losses other than the cost of repairing the damage, giving rise to disputes about the extent to which those additional losses can be recovered from insurers or third parties.

The Construction & Property Risks practice area is led by UK Managing Partner Joanna Grant. Joanna and her team of specialist solicitors represent property owners, business owners, employers, main contractors, sub-contractors, consultants, developers, local authorities, financial institutions, engineers, architects, quantity surveyors and all others involved in property, and in the domestic and international commercial construction industry.

Financial & Professional Risks

The Financial & Professional Risks practice area is led by UK Deputy Managing Partner Daniel Robin. Fenchurch Law represent policyholders insured against a range of financial and professional risks, often under highly bespoke specialty business lines. The team also represents professionals of all types and across all sectors.

International Risks

Fenchurch Law’s International Risks practice group is led by Senior Partner, David Pryce. The team represents non-UK and multinational policyholders, captives, and cedants from across the world. Fenchurch Law have acted for some of the world’s best known businesses and has successfully resolved coverage disputes on behalf of clients from every continent. Although the firm is focused exclusively on representing policyholders, the International Risks team is happy to take instructions from captives and from insurers outside the London market in relation to claims by them under reinsurance policies against London Market insurers.

Marine Risks

Fenchurch Law represent shipowners, charterers, and cargo owners in relation to disputed insurance claims under a variety of marine insurance policies, including Hull & Machinery, War and Stikes, Protection & Indemnity, and Freight/Cargo. The firm’s expertise covers a broad range of marine-related disputes, such as collisions, groundings, cargo damage, pollution, and salvage claims. Fenchurch Law regularly act for policyholders in relation to claims under combined project insurance policies where there is Freight/Cargo cover for the project works, machinery, and equipment, including in relation to onshore and offshore energy and power projects.
