■ Trademark and design litigation for major brands from running a strategic trademark enforcement on behalf of major perfume brands against smell-alike perfumes to representing a leading fashion designer in protecting its famous trademark logo.
■ Mechanical and electronic patent litigation from defending a multinational food and beverage company’s coffee capsule patent to the enforcement of electronic patents relating to streaming technology. The firm is also involved in litigation concerning essential patents for Technical Standards (UMTS).
■ Pharmaceutical patent litigation concerning biosimilars and generics of blockbuster drugs. The firm also advises in patent matters relating to biologic innovative products.
■ The firm’s well-established anti-counterfeiting team provides continuous enforcement and border control. Current situation with regard to unitary patent system
On 18 January 2022, Austria deposited ratification of the Protocol to Agreement on a Unified Patent Court on Provisional Application (PPA). The PPA entered into force on 19 January 2022. During this period the technical and infrastructural works for implementation of new court must be completed.
Criminal conviction upheld following annulment of prior acquittal
In a decision of 6 October 2021, the Madrid Court of Appeal has again sided with the trademark holders in a case involving the sale of garments illegally reproducing several well-known marks.
