SERVICES OFFERED:

Crisis Management:

Paul, Weiss’s crisis management team helps clients resolve problems quickly, effectively and holistically when legal, congressional, shareholder/investor and public relations challenges converge, threatening operations, brand and reputation. The firm advises clients on a broad spectrum of legal needs, including attacks by activist shareholders; preparation of executives for public testimony, government investigations and congressional interviews; sensitive cyber and data privacy incidents; scrutiny of corporate transactions; whistleblower allegations; alleged employee or management misconduct or criminal and regulatory matters; unfavourable media exposure or commentary; crises related to environmental, social and governance issues; and catastrophic litigation, regulatory or criminal enforcement outcomes.

The firm has safely guided U.S. and non-U.S. public and privately held companies, financial institutions and asset management firms, boards and management teams through all manner of crises. Offering a coordinated approach, the firm’s crisis management team quickly identifies key tactical issues and provides practical, commercial guidance that minimises legal, financial and reputational risks, focusing both on rapid-response protective measures in the critical first hours and longer-term mitigation strategies, including building resilient compliance systems.

Where negative information is not yet public, the Paul, Weiss team is often able to resolve matters in a confidential way to ensure privacy and limit reputational exposure. The firm also frequently leads fast-moving and sensitive internal investigations, enabling clients to take informed action to mitigate fallout. In situations that are already public, the team leverages experience with the press and before Congress, inspectors-general, and multiple law enforcement and regulatory agencies to secure the best possible outcome.

The Paul, Weiss Crisis Management team is unparalleled in experience. Several members have held top roles in government, including a former Secretary of Homeland Security; a former U.S. Attorney General; a onetime head of communications to former Sen. Hillary Clinton; a former top member of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s office; the architect of the modern Foreign Corrupt Practices Act; and former senior officials at the White House, the U.S. Department of Justice, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the Securities and Exchange Commission, the New York Attorney General’s Office and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, among others. The team also includes nationally recognised corporate and litigation lawyers who are frequently sought out by boards and executives for their deep crisis management experience and advice.
