CLOSELY WATCHED VICTORY FOR QUI TAM WHISTLEBLOWERS EXPOSING FRAUD
In an important victory for whistleblowers exposing Medicaid fraud and abuse of government programs, a Texas appellate court rejected an attempt by the Texas Attorney General’s office to bar Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel’s whistleblower client from their rightful portion of a record $236 million Medicaid fraud settlement.
The November 2025 ruling by the Texas Third Court of Appeals is the latest development in a 13-year legal battle that began when three whistleblowers came forward in 2012 with claims that Xerox and its former subsidiary, Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS), were submitting fraudulent Medicaid billing.
SIGNIFICANT SETTLEMENTS, NEW FILINGS TO PROTECT CHILD SEX ABUSE SURVIVORS
WKPS secured separate seven-figure settlements for two women who were sexually assaulted by their teacher at a Los Angeles-area public school. The settlements were reached after our investigation revealed that the school district ignored signs that the teacher was grooming the two girls.
In addition, Waters Kraus Paul & Siegel attorneys represented survivors who were part of a landmark $880 million settlement in October 2024, resolving more than 1,300 sex abuse lawsuits against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Los Angeles.
Firm attorneys also filed three high-profile lawsuits against the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) on behalf of victims of child sexual abuse who claim a systemic coverup by church leadership enabled the abuse and failed to protect child victims.
