Carrie Rief, co-leader of the firm’s global investment funds industry team, advises clients on private investment fund transactions with a focus on fund formation and the negotiation of governing terms. She has more than 15 years of experience across a variety of investment fund structures, including commingled funds, funds of funds, customized captive funds, and separate accounts. Her clients include large US and international pension funds, banking institutions, alternative investment managers, universities, and family offices.
She works together with in-house counsel and investment officers on investment transactions across a variety of asset classes, including private equity, real estate, venture, infrastructure, hedge, hybrid, and corporate governance funds. She also routinely advises on co-investments, represents buyers and sellers in secondary transactions, and counsels client on a variety of legal and risk management matters related to private funds.
She speaks at industry conferences and training programs, is a member of the Investment Section committee of the National Association of Public Pension Attorneys and presents to boards of trustees on investment fund matters. She also serves as co-chair of the firm’s education industry team’s investment working group. She is the hiring partner for the firm’s Dallas office and chairs the Dallas Pro Bono and ML Well committees.
