Chester Toh co-heads the Myanmar Practice of Rajah & Tann Asia and is a Director of its Yangon office. He brings with him years of cross-border and regional experience having previously worked in London, Singapore, Hong Kong and Beijing.
A specialist in foreign direct investment into Myanmar, Chester regularly advises multinational companies on investing in this frontier economy. He has been involved in a number of landmark projects in the country, including headline M&A transactions and large scale infrastructure projects. Chester is regularly quoted in mainstream media and has spoken at numerous seminars on Myanmar. He has led applications to the Myanmar Investment Commission and recently advised the Myanmar Government on the liberalisation of its insurance sector. Clients routinely turn to Chester for regulatory risk assessment when investing in developing countries. Of late, he has been advising clients on emerging areas of regulation in Myanmar such as communications law and competition law.
