Work Highlights
Represented a manufacturer of medical devices accused of patent infringement, copyright infringement, and trade secret misappropriation. Successfully disposed of the copyright claims pre-trial and prevailed on the patent infringement claims mid-trial. The remaining trade secret claims were tried to a jury, resulting in a favorable outcome.; Represented a manufacturer of exercise equipment accused of utility and design patent infringement, copyright infringement and alter ego liability. The matter settled after jury empanelment.; Represented a manufacturer of consumer products in a patent infringement case. The case resolved after a favorable Markman decision issued.; Represented a designer and manufacturer of jewelry accused of patent infringement. The case settled favorably to the client after the Markman construction issued.; Represented heirs in a copyright dispute concerning the Game of Life. The case was tried as a bench trial, a favorable decision issued, and the matter is currently on appeal.; Represented a video company accused of trade secret misappropriation and violation of ch. 93A. Prior to trial, the court entered summary judgment on all counts.; Represented a manufacturer of products sold to the military in a dispute involving tortious interference with contractual and advantageous relations and business defamation. The matter was tried to a jury.; Represented a construction company suing for breach of contract relating to construction delays in the construction of a hotel in downtown Providence. The case was tried as a bench trial and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit affirmed the decision.

Experience
Chris is Vice Chair of the Litigation Department and a member of the Firm’s Intellectual Property practice group. She is a trial lawyer who focuses primarily on patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret, unfair competition, false advertising and non-compete disputes. Her practice covers a variety of technologies across industries regionally and nationwide. Chris has handled numerous Markman proceedings, and she has tried to verdict or judgment cases involving copyright, patent and trade secret issues. She also has extensive experience litigating complex commercial matters involving shareholder issues in closely held companies, contract disputes and construction matters.
In addition to her litigation practice, Chris provides strategic counsel to businesses and individuals on issues involving intellectual property and proprietary business information, including assistance in responding to cease and desist and demand letters and guidance concerning trademark and copyright portfolio management and enforcement.
