Christopher Valente is a partner in the firm’s Boston and Washington, D.C. offices. Chris concentrates his practice on representing clients in connection with complex commercial disputes in state and federal court throughout the United States and in domestic and international arbitration under institutional and ad hoc arbitration rules, including those of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC). From Fortune Global 500 companies to startups about to disrupt the market, Chris works with clients to custom tailor solutions to meet their unique legal risk and needs. In particular, leveraging his passion for innovation and broad experience as a litigator, Chris knows how to work with stakeholders to understand and mitigate legal risks and, to the extent those risks materialize, developing and implementing strategies that align with the clients’ goals and needs.
Professional Memberships
Chris is a member of the firmwide Diversity Committee and co-chairs its LGBTQ subcommittee. Chris was recently named a leadership council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Fellow. Chris is also a member of the firm’s IDEA Group, a task force of lawyers and allied professionals working across the platform to cultivate and grow a robust culture of innovation at K&L Gates. Chris serves on the IDEA Group’s Legal Project Management (LPM) & Workflow subcommittee, which is tasked with leveraging internal and external resources to identify, evaluate, and promote LPM and workflow strategies, tools, and concepts to create and drive innovation and efficiency within every practice group, industry group, and office. Chris is certified in Legal Project Management by the LPM Institute.
Chris is an active member of the Boston legal community. Chris is a member of the Boston Bar Association. He is a fellow of the Boston Bar Foundation (BBF) and has chaired and served on the steering committees of numerous fundraising efforts to advance the BBF's mission of helping thousands of individuals and families through pro bono programs, grants to legal services organizations.
In addition, Chris is a vice president and member of executive committee of the Tufts Alumni Council, the governing body of the Tufts University Alumni Association, and currently chairs the Tufts Alumni Council’s Strategic Planning Committee. In 2013, Chris received the Young Alumni Distinguished Service Award in recognition of his service to Tufts University Alumni Association.
