John S. Artz is Practice Group Chair of Dickinson Wright's Intellectual Property Litigation Group. Finding early success, Artz appeared before the U.S. Supreme Court in the seminal TrafFix Devices, Inc. v. Marketing Displays, Inc., which addresses the interplay between patent and trade dress rights. A recent signature accomplishment: serving as lead counsel for publically traded corporation in copyright infringement trial in Minnesota against competitor where the jury found defendant’s infringement willful and awarded the full extent of damages requested for the client. In addition to 25+ IPRs before the Patent Office, Artz’s IP lead counsel experience includes serving Fortune 50 companies, Tier 1 auto suppliers, large health insurers, and popular consumer brands in federal courts across the country, including the Federal Circuit Court of Appeals.
