Menachem Kaplan is a partner at Freshfields in New York where he heads up the US technology practice, focusing on IP-related matters, with an emphasis on licensing, joint ventures, emerging technologies, settlements and IP/data matters relating to corporate transactions. Mena
works with clients to help identify, protect and commercialize their technologies and brands, including mitigating risk and maximizing asset value in data-driven and IP-heavy transactions. He advises across a broad range of industries, with a particular focus on hi-tech cloud computing, AI and consumer brands. He regularly works with the firm's patent and IP litigation practices to drive settlement negotiations on complex IP-driven disputes. Mena has deep experience on FRAND and essential patent licensing matters, regularly advising clients on the intersection of patent rights and antitrust law. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mena was a software engineer launching data migration projects in the financial services sector. He is a frequent lecturer on IP, technology and AI-driven issues.
