Michael Hickey

Practice Areas

Michael advises clients in a wide variety of capital markets transactions and securities regulatory matters, including M&A, initial public offerings (IPOs), public and private financings, and private equity transactions. He acts for issuers (ranging from publicly traded issuers to early-stage ventures), underwriters, financial sponsors and lenders and borrowers on transactions involving a wide range of industry sectors, including technology, health care, mining, financial services, and consumer products. He also provides ongoing advice to a variety of issuers regarding governance matters (including board advisory and special committee mandates), special situations and continuous disclosure obligations. Additionally, he provides strategic advice to clients in connection with environmental, social and governance matters in respect of financings, sustainable investment transactions and ongoing disclosure and reporting obligations. Michael spent over a year in the Firm's New York office, where he focused on Canada/U.S. cross-border M&A as well as corporate finance and private equity transactions, while providing advice to both Canadian and foreign clients conducting business in Canada. Michael previously served as a member of the Firm's Student Committee and is a member of the Firm’s Technology and Innovation, ESG and Cannabis practice groups.
