Michael has been a partner at Freshfields since 2015 and specialises in banking and finance law, with a particular focus on syndicated lending and acquisition finance. He is a member of the Financial Sponsor sector group and clients have highly recommended him for complex and/or cross-border financings. He has most recently acted for companies, sponsor and financial institutions advising on headline making Covid-rescue-financings and big-ticket (acquisition) financings.
Michael studied in Munich and Tübingen. He holds a summa-cum-laude doctorate degree, a master of laws degree from Columbia and a maîtrise-en-droit degree from the Aix-en-Provence University. Michael worked for five years at Simpson Thacher in New York and one year for Bredin Prat in Paris before joining Freshfields in 2010.
