Nikolaas’ practice encompasses a wide range of high-profile and complex tax work, including in relation to private and public M&A, corporate reorganisations, real estate, capital markets and share-based compensation schemes.
He regularly obtains tax rulings and represents clients in administrative and court proceedings as well as arbitration. His practice furthermore includes conducting internal audits, tax due diligence or second opinion work on businesses, tax structures or products.
Nikolaas joined Freshfields in 2017 and became counsel in 2018.
Member of the Brussels Bar
Nikolaas obtained his law degree from the University of Antwerp, a Master of Laws (EU Law) from the London School of Economics, and a Special Master in Tax Management from Solvay Brussels School.
He speaks Dutch, English and French.
