Paul Kilmer practices in the areas of trademark and copyright law, including international aspects of those fields. His work includes negotiating intellectual property agreements, managing litigation and counseling in intellectual property aspects of mergers and acquisitions. He is Vice Chair of the International Trademark Association’s (INTA) Emerging Issues Committee, founder and leader of the Trademark Working Group, and has served in a variety of capacities on INTA committees and committees of the American Bar Association and the D.C. Bar. In 1995, he authored the draft Trademark and Copyright Informational Sections for U.S. Trade Representative’s Free Trade Area of the Americas Initiative. Since that time, Mr. Kilmer participated in U.S. State Department IP Rights Missions to Paraguay, Serbia and Turkey. He has written about trademark and copyright matters for U.S. and foreign publications, and spoken on trademark and copyright topics in the U.S., Canada, Thailand, Hong Kong, Turkey, Paraguay, Belgium and the United Kingdom. Mr. Kilmer developed the Global Trademark Report™ card which highlights laws and practices that adversely affect trademark owners. The Global Trademark Report Card™ is used by the U.S. Trade Representative, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and other agencies in their trademark negotiations with foreign governments.
