Practice Areas
Mr. Bernardo is a litigator who has defended consumer product manufacturers and pharmaceutical companies in a variety of complex mass tort cases around the country. He has advised clients on all aspects of litigation, including pre-trial discovery, factual investigation, fact and expert witness development and trial strategy. He specializes in the management of e-discovery and in preparing company witnesses to testify in deposition and at trial (particularly in cases involving complex historical documents) – and has served as national discovery counsel on numerous large multidistrict litigations and consolidated proceedings. Mr. Bernardo is often retained to address significant e-discovery crises faced by companies in large scale litigation including spoliation allegations, protective order violations, third-party subpoena issues and large-scale privilege challenges.
Mr. Bernardo has devoted a portion of his time to pro bono work, particularly in matters involving children and the elderly. For his pro bono efforts, he has been recognized with the Champion of Equality Award by the New York Civil Rights Coalition and the Jeremy G. Epstein Award by The City Bar Justice Center.
