With over 40 years of experience in private practice as an environmental lawyer in a state with abundant heavily-regulated natural resources, Tommy Lavender understands the complex environmental problems that can arise. Tommy's extensive background enables him to help executives see through the weeds. Tommy studied Mechanical Engineering at Clemson and, after law school, went to work for the South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control as an Environmental Engineer. A year and a half later, he was promoted to Assistant General Counsel of the state regulatory agency.
From there, Tommy went to work for a capital corporation where he worked the legal side of multifamily resort development projects -- handling a wide range of issues including land acquisitions, permitting, zoning, and other entitlements.
Throughout his career with Maynard Nexsen, Tommy has led and coordinated attorney teams to ensure the firm’s business clients receive high-quality and comprehensive legal services.
