Yutaro Kawabata frequently acts as counsel in international arbitrations under the UNCITRAL, ICC, JCAA, SIAC, and other institutional rules, as well as in court litigations in all tiers of the Japanese judicial system.

Since joining Nishimura & Asahi in 2004, he has been involved in a number of the firm’s major international arbitration cases and is rapidly becoming a recognisable figure in the international arbitration community. He is also well known as a key member of the next generation of practitioners in Asia.

Yutaro has represented numerous multinational companies in various industries, including the automotive, pharmaceutical, electronic devices, food & beverage, apparel, and franchise industries. Yutaro’s ambition is to provide efficient and practical services for disputes with international aspects by drawing on his experience living outside of Japan for many years. He also focuses on providing advice on the resolution of commercial disputes, particularly corporate “divorce” cases, such as the termination of capital and business alliances and the termination of continuous long-term contracts.
