With a team of more than 300 lawyers from several nationalities in Norway, Denmark, Sweden and the UK, Schjødt has the capacity and expertise to tailor legal advice to clients’ professional and geographical business objectives and needs.
The pan-Scandinavian reach and UK law capabilities partnered with an extensive portfolio of foreign clients and matters, are an important strategic advantage for Schjødt. By combining insights, skills, and services from all four jurisdictions, Schjødt can serve foreign clients doing business in Scandinavia and the UK and Scandinavian and UK clients in need of legal services abroad, in addition to offering full-service advisory domestically.
As expressed in their mission statement, Schjødt wishes to contribute to the evolution and development of a broader society. Primarily by influencing legislation and its interpretation, taking part in ground-breaking litigation and advising governmental and private clients on matters of major importance to Scandinavian and UK businesses, but also by performing pro bono work, seeking to prevent or correct injustice and contributing to selected community or charitable services.
Their pro bono program involves taking on matters on a non-commercial basis and collaborating with charitable organisations, cultural institutions, and other non-profit entities. Reportedly, Schjødt partners and lawyers take pride in providing this pro bono counselling. The firm dedicates significant resources to pro bono work each year and has established guidelines for selecting and handling pro bono cases.
In recent years, Schjødt has prioritised cases involving freedom of speech and human rights. The firm also actively participates in a program that provides free legal advice and representation to refugees and immigrants who have received deportation notices. In several instances, Schjødt's efforts have reversed the expulsion rulings, including successful appeals to prior court judgments.
