Firm Overview:

Griffin Durham Tanner & Clarkson was founded in 2021 with the goal of creating a premier litigation boutique with a focus on federal white-collar defense and high-stakes civil matters. Uniquely, all of the firm's partners previously worked as U.S. Department of Justice attorneys, in U.S. Attorney's Offices throughout Georgia. All of the firm's partners have considerable experience in investigating, defending, and trying complicated federal cases. The firm is accomplished, smart, fearless, and relentless, and it offers small-firm versatility and service without compromising on big-firm talent. Peers and clients praise the firm's "great advocacy skills, great legal abilities, and high-quality legal work at a very good value." The attorneys of Griffin Durham Tanner & Clarkson always are "one step ahead of the other side," and "every attorney in this firm is highly qualified and does exceptional work on behalf of their clients."

The firm's deep bench of experienced attorneys results in engagements that are designed specifically to take advantage of its trial acumen, including being retained as last-minute substitute or supplemental trial counsel in high-profile, complex federal cases. The firm's attorneys also are experts at resolving federal criminal investigations before they ever reach the charging stage. Its partners have convinced the federal government on over 40 occasions to walk away from a criminal investigation without ever filing charges. In 2023, as in every preceding year of the firm's history, the firm's advocacy resulted in multiple federal criminal investigations closed against its clients without any charges and without any significant penalties.

Main Areas of Practice:

Griffin Durham Tanner & Clarkson provides broad-based expertise in defending clients facing an array of investigations, criminal charges, or civil complaints brought by the federal government. In 2023, the firm's attorneys led the defense of corporations and individuals accused of antitrust conspiracies, immigration fraud, federal Fair Housing Act violations, tax fraud, the distribution of adulterated medical devices, computer intrusion and hacking, and racketeering, among many other matters. The firm boasts particular expertise in prosecuting and defending cases brought under the provisions of the False Claims Act, including those brought against healthcare practices and professionals involving alleged violations of the Physician Self-Referral Act (Stark Law) and Anti-Kickback Statute.
