The group advises on regulatory and legislative advocacy, project permitting, compliance counselling, due diligence, litigation and enforcement defence. It covers every area of environmental and energy law, from pollution control and hazardous substances, to conventional and renewable energy, extractive industries and wildlife conservation.
Finance:
The firm represents debtors, borrowers, creditors, lenders, committees, trustees, receivers and asset purchasers in bankruptcy and workout transactions, as well as federally insured financial institutions, CMBS special servicers and pension fund administrators in all types of debt financings.
Financial Services & Investments:
The firm has been at the forefront of assisting public and private companies, as well as Wall Street, in understanding the potential use of the distributed ledger (blockchain) technology underlying digital currencies. The group counsels fintech industry influencers on emerging, electronic financial services and a range of decentralized virtual currencies, including bitcoin.
Insurance Recovery:
The firm’s insurance attorneys have a record of success in enforcing policyholders’ rights to coverage under almost every type of commercial insurance policy for a wide spectrum of losses and liabilities.
Intellectual Property:
The firm’s IP practice includes 200+ lawyers focused on IP litigation, patent and trademark procurement, post-grant procedures, technology licensing, copyrights and unfair competition counselling. The patent group includes more than 175 members with scientific degrees. More than ten attorneys are former Federal Circuit clerks.
Labor & Employment:
The firm represents clients on every issue arising in the modern workplace including sexual harassment. The firm has exceptional strength in employment litigation, including discrimination or wrongful termination class action, trade secret and noncompete litigation.

Litigation:
The firm’s 450+ litigators have extensive experience in state and federal jurisdictions and at every appellate level including the US Supreme Court. The group includes 16 Fellows in the American College of Trial Lawyers and has particular strength in complex patent litigation, privacy, product liability (aviation), insurance (policyholder) coverage, white collar defense and class action defence.
Political Law:
The firm’s political law group is the largest, most experienced practice of its kind in the nation and has counseled hundreds of candidates for elective office (including seven presidential campaigns), scores of nonprofit and ideological groups and dozens of corporations and businesses.

Product Liability:
