THE CHAMBERS
Chambers has focused on intellectual property litigation for more than 60 years and its 21 tenants, including six KCs, are all leading practitioners in this area. The set was located at 6 Pump Court, Temple, until April 1995. Former members of Chambers include Birss LJ, Aldous LJ and Falconer J. All members appear frequently in the High Court, Intellectual Property Enterprise Court and Appellate Courts. They also engage regularly in arbitration work, both as advocates and arbitrators, and in hearings before the UK Intellectual Property Office, the European Patent Office in Munich, and The Hague.
Three New Square has built its reputation on patent litigation.Members of chambers have been involved in many of the United Kingdom’s leading patent cases and are highly experienced in dealing with technically complicated subject matter. The majority of members are scientifically trained at least to graduate level Currently members of chambers have, between them, undergraduate and post graduate degrees in chemistry, engineering, physics, neuroscience, geophysics and psychology.
In addition, a significant part of chambers’ work comprises other areas of intellectual property, in particular copyright, registered and unregistered designs, registered trade marks, passing off, misuse of confidential information and related areas of domestic and European competition law.
In view of their dual expertise in handling both legal and scientific issues, members of chambers are also in high demand in other areas of litigation with scientifically complex issues.
Members of Chambers receive instructions from solicitors, patent and trade mark attorneys, in-house lawyers and lawyers practising overseas.
Members of chambers also contribute to Terrell on the Law of Patents, the leading textbook in patent law.
