Employment law in Belgium is extremely technical and complicated. We deliver a "one stop" service to clients who require advice and assistance with their complex employment law arrangements; the ALTIUS Employment Team is able to directly tap into the specialist expertise of other highly regarded teams at ALTIUS (such as Corporate/M&A, IP, Data Protection, Commercial law) since modern employment advice calls for a multi-disciplinary approach; equally, we have a competitive advantage over other employment teams in full-service law firms resulting from a close working relationship with the Benefits & Compensation team of Tiberghien, the largest specialist tax law firm in Belgium, with whom we form an alliance; a combined employment and tax law approach is nowadays an absolute must when tackling sophisticated legal matters.
The size of the team permits specialisation in certain areas (e.g. cross-border employment situations; workforce restructuring; cross border mergers; judicial composition proceedings; collective bargaining, etc.), sound knowledge management and a strong sector-focus (see below). Moreover, our multi-lingual team has highly-regarded litigation expertise that is often called upon for critical, landmark cases.

ALTIUS has a broad employment law practice, advising employers on both collective dismissals and contentious individual terminations. The firm is active on a number of contentious matters, including harassment cases, as well as social security and payroll disputes. On the non-contentious side, the team advises clients on contract negotiations and bonus scheme agreements. ALTIUS has a number of clients from the sports sector, representing both individuals and clubs.
