We handle precedent-setting challenges across the country, in state and federal courts and at the appellate level. Team members have served in senior government positions such as Deputy GC, EPA and EPA leadership roles involving the CAA, TSCA, and FIFRA; Chief of the Environmental Enforcement Sect, DOJ; Under Sec. for Natural Resources and the Environment, USDA; and Deputy Commissioner & GC, NY State Dept. of Environmental Conservation; as well as the current Director of the Sabin Center for Climate Change Law.  Our practice spans:

  • Litigation & Enforcement: We have experience in civil & criminal enforcement under every federal statute; contaminated site cleanups, & litigation; catastrophic incident defense and crisis management; and toxic tort claims associated with an array of groundwater, air pollution, toxic chemical, radioactivity, and public nuisance matters.
  • Regulatory: We advise clients on the full range of environmental issues, assist in developing compliance programs, counsel on risk mitigation, identify and manage product supply chain issues, and obtain needed permits and approvals for projects.
  • Transactional: We manage environmental assessments, negotiate contracts and land use permitting for development projects. We also advise on the environmental aspects of multi jurisdictional transactions.
