Provided by Foley Hoag LLP

Foley Hoag’s ILAP is unique among law firms.  The firm boasts a sophisticated international arbitration practice that handles complex, cutting-edge, and high-volume controversies, both in commercial and investor-State disputes. The firm also represents clients before U.S. and French national courts in matters related to international arbitration, boasting approximately 90% historic win/loss ratio.

The firm saw its portfolio of cases and clients grow significantly this year under the leadership of its partners, who have brought in new arbitration and international litigation matters representing Albania, Armenia, Bangladesh, Brazil, Chile, Croatia, Dominican Republic, India, Nepal, Panama, Peru, Sierra Leone, Spain, and Uruguay, among others, and have also developed a growing portfolio of corporations whom we represent in commercial and construction disputes.

In the Investor-State field, it is known for exclusively representing Sovereign States and their entities, successfully representing clients in multi-million and billion dollar disputes in various sectors. Cutting-edge issues the firm has addressed are a State’s regulatory powers over public health, safety and the environment, and matters involving corruption, recently obtaining victories for Croatia and Uruguay.

Its international commercial arbitration practice advises clients, including both private corporate entities and State-owned enterprises.  Recent victories include victories for Bangladesh state owned entities.
